GST rate
How this is calculated
GST = 1,000 × 18 ÷ 100 = ₹180.00; total = ₹1,180.00
CGST 9% = ₹90.00, SGST 9% = ₹90.00
Exclusive: tax = amount × rate ÷ 100. Inclusive: taxable value = amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate), tax = amount − taxable value. Within a state the tax splits equally into CGST and SGST; across states it is IGST at the full rate.
Worked example at 18%: ₹1,000 before tax → GST ₹180 → total ₹1,180. ₹1,180 inclusive → taxable value ₹1,000 → GST ₹180.

Multiply the amount by the rate and divide by 100. ₹2,500 at 18% → ₹450 GST → ₹2,950 total.
Divide by (100 + rate) and multiply by 100. ₹2,950 at 18% → ₹2,500 taxable value; the GST is ₹450.
Same state as the buyer: CGST and SGST, half each. Different state (or SEZ/export): IGST at the full rate.
Rates depend on the HSN/SAC classification. Check the GST rate finder on cbic-gst.gov.in or your supplier's invoice.
